Aquinnah Cliffs
The Aquinnah Cliffs, formerly known as the Gay Head Cliffs. With streaks of red and white clay, green sand, black soil and white quartz the cliffs are a colorful attraction that reveal the past. The various pigments served as paint for the houses on the island. The cliffs are protected as a National Historic Landmark. Climbing and removing clay from the cliffs are prohibited.
